On June 19th, 2023, the Ashhwika Foundation, a renowned mental health awareness NGO, organized a transformative workshop at the Arya Smaj Stitching Centre in Vasant Vihar. The workshop was dedicated to fostering self-care and self-compassion among the women of the stitching center. Led by licensed and certified psychologist Mehfisha Ahmed, the session aimed to empower women with valuable tools and strategies for enhancing their well-being and resilience.
The workshop began with an introduction to the concepts of self-care and self-compassion, emphasizing their importance in nurturing mental, emotional, and physical health. The women participants, who are often caregivers and providers for their families, were encouraged to prioritize their own well-being and practice self-compassion without guilt or hesitation.
Licensed psychologist Mehfisha Ahmed facilitated engaging discussions, interactive activities, and mindfulness exercises to help participants explore their self-care needs, identify personal strengths, and develop self-compassionate attitudes. Through guided reflections and practical tips, the workshop provided actionable steps for integrating self-care practices into daily life routines.
The session addressed common challenges faced by women, such as stress, burnout, and self-criticism, offering strategies for setting boundaries, managing emotions, and practicing self-compassion in challenging situations. The foundation’s holistic approach focused on promoting mental wellness, resilience, and empowerment among the participants.
The interactive nature of the workshop allowed women to share their experiences, support each other, and learn from collective wisdom. Mehfisha Ahmed’s expertise and compassionate approach created a safe and nurturing space for open dialogue, healing, and personal growth.
As part of its commitment to holistic well-being, the Ashhwika Foundation provided educational materials, self-care resources, and practical tools for participants to continue their self-care journey beyond the workshop. These resources served as valuable reminders and guides for practicing self-compassion and self-care in their daily lives.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with women expressing gratitude for the opportunity to prioritize their own well-being and learn practical strategies for self-care and self-compassion. Many shared how the workshop had empowered them to set boundaries, practice self-care rituals, and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
